Holliday is located near the Mark Twain Lake, which provides recreational opportunities for residents and visitors, including fishing, boating, and camping. Holliday is served by the Monroe City R-I School District, which operates a K-12 school in the nearby town of Monroe City. The village is situated approximately 25 miles southeast of Hannibal, Missouri, and about 125 miles northwest of St. Louis, Missouri.
